There's a ton of news from the Five Eight camp right now:
- The ENTIRE Five-Eight back catalog will be released via iTunes and Amazon on June 22nd. This includes singles and B-sides, alternate versions of songs and all of the records we have released via various labels through the years. The last time I counted, there were 83 songs that could be downloaded. In the process of compiling all of this material, I uncovered several DAT tapes worth of demos for The Good Nurse and The Angriest Man, as well as copies of the cassette-only releases Passive-Aggressive and Inflatable Sense of Self.
In the next few weeks, we'll be making those available as free downloads on the Music page.
- The newest Five-Eight Record is
recorded, mixed and mastered and ready to be released. We're still working out the details of the release, including the actual date and the title, but watch this space for details. The album was recorded in bits and pieces over the last three years by drummer Patrick Ferguson
and mixed by Daniel Collins at Pigpen Studios in Athens. The players on most of the record are the "original" four members of Five-Eight: Mike, Sean, Dan and Patrick, with old friends Geoff Melkonian and William Tonks playing keyboards and acoustic guitars/dobro, respectively. Melissa Ball, David Ferguson, Mike Rizzi (YES!!) and Sean Arington all contributed background vocals.
We think it's our most emotionally powerful and complete record to date.
- Five-Eight plays AthFest on June 26th on the Lumpkin Street Stage at 6:20pm. There will probably be a couple of other surprise shows, maybe an acoustic or solo show jammed in there somewhere, so keep an eye on this page.
As always, thank you for your continued interest and support. We are forever in your debt, folks, and we would just be four guys rehearsing in a closet somewhere if it weren't for you.
